About WHAM! Lab
Built Inside the Hobby. Designed for the People Who Live It.
WHAM! Lab wasn’t formed in a corporate boardroom — it was born in the middle of a comic shop.
The idea began when Matt Griese, creator of WHAM! Stand, crossed paths with Edward Greenberg, one of the partners behind Collector’s Paradise, a three-location comic book store chain serving the greater Los Angeles area. Both came from different sides of the counter, but shared the same frustration: Comic displays were outdated, inflexible, and never designed by people who actually used them.
From WHAM! Stand to Something Bigger
At the time, WHAM! Stand was already pushing boundaries in the comic book hobby. Using 3D printing and smart design, Matt created innovative display solutions for his clientele of collectors — most notably WHAMblems, a magnetic emblem designed to fit on a variety of different WHAM! Stand products. These products stood out because they were both eye-catching and innovative.
As these products gained traction with collectors, a new realization emerged: Comic book stores needed this level of innovation even more.
And that’s where Edward’s real-world retail experience would come into play.
The Birth of the WHAM! Modular System
Realizing that most comic shop owners were stuck with static signage and displays that couldn’t adapt to their everchanging inventory, Matt and Edward began developing what would become the WHAM! Modular and Grip Systems - a fully interchangeable, snap signage and display system designed specifically for comic book and collectible retail.
The core idea was simple, but powerful:
-One central sign system
-Strong attachment points using our WHAM! Grip System
-Interchangeable connectors for shelves, hooks, book ledges, slabs, signage, and future accessories
-Instead of replacing displays every time inventory changed, stores could reconfigure in seconds.
-No tools. No damage. No clutter.
One sign. Every shelf. That’s the WHAM! Modular System. This isn’t just a product, but a system built to evolve with the hobby.
WHAM! Lab Is Formed
To formalize the partnership and bring the vision to life, WHAM! Lab was formed. Our mission was clear:
